Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake. In celebration of Pride Month\, the flag raising is a chance for the whole 鶹ֱ community to come together and show their support. \nA representative from Pride Niagara and members of the College’s Executive Team\, and Rainbow Knights student club will be in attendance. \nThe College will raise the Progress Pride flag\, an important symbol of recognition and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. \nPlease join us at the flagpoles at 1:00 p.m. located just outside the main entrances of each campus near the transit stop. \nAbout the Progress Pride Flag \nIn 2018\, American artist and designer Daniel Quasar added a five-coloured chevron and black and brown stripes to the original Rainbow Flag to better emphasize inclusion and to represent marginalized members of the community. The black and brown stripes represent those lost to HIV/AIDS\, and those currently living with AIDS. The inclusion of pink\, light blue and white pay homage to the Transgender Pride flag. \nJune is also Indigenous History Month. The 2S at the start of the 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym specifically highlights the identity of two-spirit Indigenous people. Across the Niagara region\, it is placed at the start of the acronym to remind us all that two-spirit people\, like all Indigenous peoples\, continue to live and work here and were on this land first. \nLearn more about the Progress Pride Flag: publicservicepride.ca/flag URL:/event/progress-pride-flag-raising-05-31-2024/ CATEGORIES:Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,Staff Events,Student Events END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Toronto:20240531T140000 DTEND;TZID=America/Toronto:20240531T160000 DTSTAMP:20240516T232327 CREATED:20240514T144153Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240514T144153Z UID:51524-1717164000-1717171200@www.niagaracollege.ca SUMMARY:SVPRC meet & greet and colouring for Pride Month DESCRIPTION:Come meet Kaytee\, 鶹ֱ’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Coordinator (SVPRC) from 2- 4 p.m. at the Welland Campus Wellness Lounge. \nTake this time to drop in and ask Kaytee any questions you may have about services\, sexual and gender-based violence\, healthy relationships\, and getting involved in the Consent is Key campaign.
